2010 Vegas to Reno Photos

1924vegastoreno1Stay tuned as we upload photos from the 2010 Vegas to Reno race here.  It was not a good race for us last weekend as we had electrical issues early in the race and were unable to fix them.  Look for us to make a strong showing at the Best in the Desert Blue Water Classic in October.  We will be on a tight testing schedule making sure that we get all of the bugs worked out of the car before then.

Lasher Motorsports Kawasaki Teryx Finishes the BITD Season in Second!

Lasher Motorsports Kawasaki Teryx Finishes the BITD Season in Second!

With the season coming to an end with the completion of the Best in the Desert Henderson Fabtech Classic this past weekend the Lasher Motorsports team has finished the year on a high note.  The team finished a respectable fourth place out of 9 cars in the field which gave them a second place in the points standings for the year.

The plan for the Henderson race was to take it slow and easy.  As long as the car could finish, the team would sustain a third spot in the season points battle.  Mike Lasher and Rick “Wally World” Wallace battled cold weather as the thermometer only read 22 degrees when they started the race.  Along with the cold weather, blinding dust made for a slow first lap as to make sure the car didn’t get damaged.  The team ran the race without a hitch completing two 60 mile laps in just under four hours giving them a fourth place finsih.  The 60 mile course was filled with boulders silt and sand!  The terrain proved to be no mach for the ITP wheels and tires as they were pushed through the desert with ease from the power of the Lockmann Precision built Muzzy’s motor.

2009 marked the first year that the team ran a complete season consisting of 7 races in the grueling deserts of Arizona and Nevada.  Tackling such race as Vegas to Reno “the long way,” the Silver State 300, and the Parker 250 the Kawasaki Teryx built by Side X Side Outfitterz saw over 1800 race miles during the season and was able to finish every single race.  With the 1924 Kawasaki Teryx piloted by Mike Lasher and Rick Wallace they were able to obtain a second spot for the Best in the Desert season amongst some great competition.

The team at Lasher Motorsports would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people and companies that made this year so successful and look forward to another great year in 2010!

The six race 2010 Best in the Desert season kicks off January 8-10, 2010 in Parker, Arizona.

Pro Armor Kawasaki Teryx Built by Side X Side Outfitterz Podiums at Blue Water Grand Prix

dsc_0029Riverside, CA, (5/14/2009)- The Pro Armor Kawasaki Teryx Built by Side X Side Outfitterz finishes third this weekend at the Blue Water Grand Prix and takes the season points lead.
Under extreme temperatures this past weekend in Parker, AZ and a late afternoon start time of 3:30pm, the race called for six laps at 10 miles each.  The plan for the team was to take it nice and easy in the early part of the race.  With a traditional Grand Prix start, 16 UTVs side by side would make for some interesting racing action as they all headed for the first corner.  “We knew we had a fast car and could run in the front of the pack, so we made sure we had a clean start and worked our way to the front of the pack” said driver Mike Lasher.  After the first corner the team was in the 12th spot.  Starting in the back made for some intense dust and gave them a slower first lap.  By the time the first lap was completed the team had already moved into 5th place.
As the laps continued to count down and competitors began to have problems, the Pro Armor Teryx continued on its pace and battled the 10 mile course that was getting rougher and rougher with each lap.  Running at an average of only 29mph, this race showed how slow the pace was given the conditions.  The Blue Water Grand Prix put on by Best in the Desert had an outstanding variety of terrain to travel through.  The team battled silt beds, rocks, water, mud, gravel, sand, steep ridges, and even had to navigate through an old house that was part of the racecourse.  The CST Performance +3” long travel kit and Fox Racing Shox really made a nice addition in the tight confines of the house as other vehicles were taking out walls due to their width.  The suspension was able to soak up the rough terrain of the Parker desert without missing a beat allowing the team to run in the front of the pack all day.
When the dust cleared the Pro Armor Teryx had moved into third position and was one of only 4 cars to complete all 6 laps.  Finishing in the third position at the Blue Water Grand Prix, moved the team into the first position in the season points standings and also opened up the biggest lead of the year.
The next race on the schedule for the team is the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno “the long way” which will be 1000 miles spread out over three days in the Nevada desert August 20-22, 2009.
